On the article about the "Loganbeere", which at the time euphorized the editorial staff of the "Golden Age", published in the Swiss edition of the GZ on November 15, 1923, and then in the German GZ edition on February 15, 1924, was received earlier.
See
GZZeitreise23 (entry from November 18, 2008)

The following report from the "Golden Age" (Bern edition) of February 15, 1924 can certainly also be assigned to the heading "Euphoria":

Air electricity as the power source of the future
Large amounts of electricity are continuously generated by friction in the air jacket that envelops our earth. This is also known to laypersons from the appearance of lightning; But only those who have had the opportunity to observe the discharge in tropical thunderstorms can imagine how immense the electrical energy temporarily stored in the atmosphere is.
How now if man made use of the inherent energy?
The practical feasibility of this idea is discussed in detail in a Pladson work "Extraction and exploitation of atmospheric electricity". Pladson suggests using large, metallic tethered balloons filled with hydrogen, which in turn are connected by metallic ropes. Sharp tips then lead to so-called "silent discharges" and to the accumulation of electrical energy in the balloons' collection system, which is then connected from time to time with suitable devices on the earth, into which the collected ones Energy overflows and can now be used in exactly the same way as the electrical power and air flow in our electricity plants.

Practical tests have so far shown 200 horsepower per square kilometer of earth's surface. That doesn't seem like much, but so far no groundbreaking invention has been born to perfection.
The system can probably still be improved, thereby increasing the amount of electricity generated.

The system itself is advantageous because, in addition to the one-time purchase of the balloons and the apparatus, it costs practically no costs, and because the air is at least neither confiscated nor privately owned. In addition, the system can be used anywhere, since electrical energy is uniformly present in the air everywhere. According to Pladson's calculation, using 175,000 square kilometers of surface-air surface would produce 720 million horsepower per day from air electricity, which could cover a large part of the total demand of the industry in the above areas. "

Now this message will probably only be able to assess technicians who are really knowledgeable about bags. The topic: moving away from fossil fuels towards alternative energy sources is still very topical today. Without being able to evaluate the content of these statements, it seems to be the case that the named invention has in no way prevailed. Why didn't she prevail?

Only technicians who are familiar with the sack can answer that.
But as one who does not necessarily belong to the above group, one can say so much.

One thing is certain to be thanked for the "golden age".

Now there is a message these days announcing that the classic light bulb is "out", which should not be commented on here, because it is not the topic of this forum.
See about:
www.tagesspiegel.de/wirtschaft/Gluehbirne-EU;art271,2680179

From time to time there are similar messages. Be it newer energy sources and the like. Who would have thought that, even the "Golden Age" of Jehovah's Witnesses, already knew how to "score" with such a report in 1935. What the GZ announced as "the latest craze" was a "hydrogen engine" that would even replace conventional petrol and diesel engines. However, if you look at what Wikipedia has to say about the subject, it still seems to be "the devil in detail".

This should not be commented on here either. It should only be communicated once without any value.

In the "Golden Age" of April 15, 1935, the following message was read:

“Hydrogen instead of gasoline
In the last tent, a hydrogen engine was constructed that should work safely and economically, is always ready to start and whose exhaust gases remain harmless and odorless. Hydrogen can be produced cheaply by electrical means and could serve as a multiple replacement for gasoline and crude oil in the future. You can also convert carburetor engines and diesel machines for hydrogen propulsion. "

You can read about what Wikipedia has to say on the topic here:

http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/hydrogen combustion engine

The topic of electricity apparently spurred the "Golden Age" even later. An example of this was its (Swiss) edition of October 1, 1925, which was apparently based on a press article from a magazine, not verified in more detail, called "The Lightning" read was:

"For a few years now, nurseries have been around Berlin and other German cities that produce giant fruits and vegetables of immense, previously unimagined dimensions. These innovators in the field of garden art are students of a great master who is a Frenchman, namely Dr . M, Justin Christofleau, based in the small hamlet of La Queue-les-Yvelines in Normadie, "

The insertion may already be permitted. If you enter the aforementioned names in one of the common Internet search engines, you will not get any relevant results. Further in the GZ text. The same thing to report, the aforementioned gentleman

“Is the inventor of an electro-magnetic device for capturing earth's electricity. His method has been successfully imitated all over the world. In short, it consists in capturing the earth's natural electricity and making it useful for the growth of plants. Dr. M. Christofleau is a determined opponent of any kind of fertilizer, natural or artificial. He starts from the point of view that the plant world receives all food from the air, to which the earth must have given off some of the necessary substances.

What we call life is really nothing but natural electricity, says M. Christofleau. He creates his fields in the direction from north to south and draws parallel furrows in this direction, which are about three meters apart. He places galvanized iron wire along the entire length in these furrows. In the north, the wire is lost in the earth. To the south, it is carried up a 15-30 foot pole and gets lost at the top in an antenna. The antenna captures atmospheric (positive) electricity and directs it along the furrows into the ground. Here it unites with the negative electricity that a network of wires located there has absorbed, and thus forms the natural invigorating force that can now act directly on the roots.

The plant takes an electric foot bath, so to speak, which has a tremendous, fertilizing effect. Heat is also added to the plants in this way by collecting sunshine in large copper and zinc mirrors and feeding the plant roots in the same way as positive electricity. The wires running from north to south may remain uncovered when it comes to pruning vines, berry bushes, dwarf fruit, tomatoes and tendrils of all kinds,

With all doubts it has already been established that this method at least doubles the fertility of the soil. It should also be noted that fruits and fruits treated in this way usually have an unusual size and have much more aroma. The ground is completely free of vermin that cannot withstand the electric currents. But what is most important; Earth's electricity makes fertilizers of all kinds superfluous,

Every farmer and gardener knows what great savings this means. Surveys among gardeners and farmers who have tried the new method have shown astonishing results. Tomatoes e.g. B. ripened on a plantation near Berlin in two thirds of the usual time. "Electrified" apple trees, which used to bring only small varieties of apples, now bore fruit that reached a diameter of 12 centimeters. Potatoes ripened very quickly to an unusual size, even though they shot into the herb at a height of several meters. The reports on the recovery of fruit trees treated with electricity using the Christofleau method are the cheapest

And to underline what has been said, the GZ also adds a drawing.

http://www.manfred-gebhard.de/GZBlitz.jpg

The Magdeburg edition of the "Golden Age" of October 1, 1925, apparently also brought a report on the same subject in somewhat modified form. In the Magdeburg GZ edition, the whole thing was framed in the form of a question and its answer.
There one read as a question whether something was known

“Of a new invention in which the radio is caught from the air and used to fertilize large areas of arable land by guiding it (radio) through wires into the earth. The successes achieved through this are said to have caused miracles in the field of gardening and agriculture. Perhaps you could also write more about this, because it will be tremendous proof that there are already ways and means of converting the imperfect earth into a real paradise. "

And in response to this question, the Magdeburg GZ then writes:
“In any case, the questioner refers to the sensational invention by the Frenchman Christtoffleau
(Insertion. Even this slightly different spelling in the Magdeburg GZ edition does not reveal any relevant result in the Internet search engines). Further in the GZ text:
“The whole system, called the electric cultivator, is made up of an apparatus box whose horizontal, far-reaching tip points exactly to the south pole of the earth. The box sits on an antenna support that ends at the top of wire tips to collect atmospheric electricity. From this device, a galvanized iron wire leads into the ground and is laid about 40 cm below the surface of the earth in the magnetic south-north direction. The mode of action itself should extend over a strip of area of about 1.5 m to the right and left of the wire and extend in the longitudinal direction for about 1000 m.

Whether the increase in fertility through this device is based on the eradication of the harmful parasites, or on a chemical transformation, respectively. favorable influence on the earth's components, we definitely cannot state that.
From the expert reports available to us from German areas, we can see that the plants in a potato field were fuller and larger than in the neighboring parts of the field just 4 weeks after the apparatus was installed. After 6 weeks, fertility improved by about 50%
We may say that the exploitation of this invention in agriculture and horticulture would bring about tremendous changes. "

Now you have to admit: It is not (as far as the Berner GZ is concerned) a self-report. Nevertheless, one cannot avoid the impression. The "method", which was probably regarded as "revolutionary" at the time, apparently did not prevail in any way. So also an invention that "the world was waiting for" and yet has no use for it!
Involuntarily you are reminded of the euphoria when it comes to wonder wheat.
The thing about wonder wheat

Apparently the GZ (Magdeburg edition of November 15, 1925) got "cold feet" in its electricity euphoria some time later, at least because the GZ quotes another press article, which is obviously in some contradiction to the previous ones Euphoria articles is there. So the Magdeburg GZ now reports the following under the heading "Elektro-Kultivator":

"The" Dresdener Neuesste Nachrichten "put a note under the heading above on August 2nd. Since we have already reported briefly on this matter through one of our employees in the GZ, but are unable to check the pros and cons ourselves, we feel we are obliged to our readers to also publish the following statements.

The "Electro Cultivator". The Chamber of Horticulture at the Chamber of Agriculture for the Free State of Saxony tells us the following:
For some time now, a Berlin company that also in Saxony, z. B. In Dresden and Zittau, a representative, has promoted the Saxon gardeners with a device, the "electro cultivator", which she claims not only in the field of vegetable growing and other branches of soil cultivation, but also a revolution in the global economy as a result of a doubling or a fivefold increase in the harvest is to be expected.

The company that distributes the apparatus cannot rely on conclusive test results from a faultless side. On the other hand, there are judgments from authoritative bodies, from which it can be seen that the use of the "electro cultivator" does not in the least bring the prospect of the intended benefit. The higher state college for gardening in Pillnitz has no difference in favor of the "Electro-cultivators" can determine. The Reich Association of German Horticulture in Berlin arranged a visit to the test facilities of the company selling the apparatus on July 8th and did not find the alleged development increases confirmed.

The Chamber of Horticulture in Dresden had one of its chamber members and one of its specialists in Saxony's horticultural companies inspect "electric cultivators", and even here the slightest success was not noticed. For these reasons, the Chamber of Horticulture sees itself as mandatory to warn all Saxon gardeners and other groups involved in horticulture against the purchase of the "electric cultivator" in order to protect them against disadvantage. "

However, the criticism just quoted did not impress the Bernese "Golden Age" in any way. This is supported by a fully euphorized article in the Bern GZ from March 1, 1926. The same is drawn by name, with KA Tschudi, Zurich. The five alone Attached pictures underline the fully euphoric character.
We ask for leniency that the image reproduction is not optimal due to technical constraints. But the respective captions added by the GZ already tell what it is about.

http://www.manfred-gebhard.de/Tschudi5.jpg

You won't find any critical accents in this article. Mr. Tschudi therefore means the following via his mouthpiece "Golden Age" under the heading "Elektro-Terro-Kultur. A revolutionary invention for agriculture":

“The high cost of the process only allowed it to be used in more valuable crops. Then the French farmer J. Christofleau came and said; the artificial use of electricity must be switched off!
- For years and in silence he has been trying to make use of natural power sources. The result is his "electric terro device" today!

This simple and ingenious invention allows the farmer to feed the electromagnetic currents from the earth and the atmosphere to the plants. With the support of these natural forces, vegetation is enabled to utilize the natural material sources in the air and soil to a far greater extent.

The absorption of carbon dioxide and nitrogen from the air is facilitated and at the same time significantly increased. Electrolysis also favors decomposition in the soil. In this way, the entire metabolism, as well as the development of the plant, is accelerated, so that the relatively short sun exposure is fully exploited.

An earlier ripeness combined with a better quality of the harvest can be booked as a success. In the future, this will mean considerable added value for agricultural products. The vegetables grown under the influence of Christofleau's apparatus proved to be tastier according to officially carried out analyzes, the fruits obtained were much larger, more aromatic and more rich in sugar.

The J. Christofleaus apparatus is a small metal box with a protruding nose. The housing is covered by a recessed zinc plate, but the recess is filled with a copper plate. A metal tip connected laterally vertically runs into a wire bundle at the top, which looks like a radio antenna. The lower end of this metal tip crosses a small tube welded from copper and zinc, which acts as an electrical termo element.

This simple construction, the weight of which is not more than 4 kilograms, is firmly mounted on an approx. 7 meter high wooden post in such a way that the nose with the compass is assigned exactly to the south. The line wire connected to the north rope glides along the post into the earth, where it also uses a compass, at the depth of a spade, in the direction from south to north, for an approximate length of 1000 meters, the electricity obtained, at a distance of approx. 1, Spread 50 meters depending on both sides of the laid wire in the ground.

The generation of electricity is based solely on the construction of the apparatus resting on the post. - Above all, the south-facing nose, with the help of the box, is able to absorb the magnetism of the earth. With the effect of the sun the following results; the corrugated inside of the metal box, i.e., the raised points, which are protected from the air, enclose the heat generated by the radiation; the wings attached to the thinnest parts of the outer wall, which are in contact with the streams of air, have a cooling effect. This creates a temperature difference inside the box itself, which logically results in the formation of an electric cooker, because; the slightest temperature difference between the individual metal parts in contact with each other causes an electrical source.

This process is repeated in three directions depending on the position of the sun. - Furthermore, the effect of the sun is exploited by the electro-thermal element of the tube welded from copper and zinc. This is attached in such a way that one of the welded areas is always exposed to the sun while the other is protected. This also creates an electrical current that moves from copper to zinc and from there into the apparatus. The same process also takes place with cold and frost influences. -

The electricity of the atmosphere surrounding us, as well as that of the passing clouds, is caught by the wire bundle. - The sunken zinc plate forms a kind of collector for rainwater, copper and zinc combine and thus serve as a current conductor like a volta element. All the energy developed and gathered in this way now reaches the ground, as already mentioned; the highest voltage with approx. 120 to 160, the lowest with approx. 20 milliamps, destroys the microbes harmful to the plant and promotes the chemical ones
Processes that make it much easier for the plant to absorb the necessary substances. The regulation of the current is subject to the influences of nature; it is free of charge, which is why the device does not require any maintenance. The pipeline network is underground and does not hinder the cultivation of the property or the harvesting.

As an excellent element due to the treatment with electro-terro devices, healthy vegetation should be mentioned. Official tests have shown that grapevines that were barely viable, even those that would have been destroyed by phylloxera, recovered completely with such treatment over the course of 1 to 2 years and had a more abundant grape slope than before !

It should also be noted that the inventor dropped the artificial fertilizer completely in all of his attempts over the past 5 years. However, it can be assumed that the soil could gradually become exhausted, so it is advisable to continue using fertilizers, such as potash, lime and phosphoric acid, in the amount removed from the soil by the harvests. On the other hand, all other harmful artificial fertilizers can be left aside.

Since the mineral constituents only make up a small part of the material composition of the plants (e.g. only 1.7% for young grass), fertilization with the harmless fertilizers mentioned comes at a very low cost and does not significantly change the result of the additional yield . The tests currently being carried out at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich with and without stable fertilization but without artificial fertilizer will probably be able to provide some information in this regard. -
A large number of such electric terro devices have already been made available free of charge for impartial trials in Switzerland; The result is often followed with great astonishment and some farmers report their surprise with enthusiasm. - The inventor has been awarded the gold medal by the "Societe d'engouragement pour l'Industrie nationale", - In Germany the government has taken a close look at electro-terro culture in the interest of popular nutrition and there is no doubt that in the foreseeable future the governments of the latter two countries will seek to promote the practice of this method as far as possible.

Official trials have now also started in Switzerland. In addition to the agricultural department of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, various official institutes under the leadership of official scientific control bodies have begun to deal with electro-terro-culture experiments. "

And his remarks ended the "Golden Age" with the pithy statement:
"We are on the eve of a revolution! In Europe and in several overseas countries, over 150,000 devices are in operation today. In America, trials are being started on a massive scale, and the inventor and the manufacturers have received the greatest recognition from all sides. "

And these GZ versions end with the sentence:

"For more information, contact the following places;
"Elektro-Kultur A.-G." Schleifheim (Switzerland)
Mr. B. Hornich, Brüsau 103rd Moravia (Czechoslovakia). "

If the latter is not to be found in the area of massive advertising that already surpasses surreptitious advertising!

If an introductory note was made that almost nothing can be found on the Internet on the subject, then perhaps a restriction still needs to be made. With the keyword "Elektro-Terro" you can actually find a historical newspaper article from 1926 of the "Wiener Landwirtschaftlliche Zeitung". Said article explains.

The harvest of the future
The farmer Hans Wöllecke (Erbstetten, Württemberg) took up the basic idea of the inventor Justin Chritof Bau (Normandy) and achieved unprecedented success in horticulture with his energy. Many will shake their heads and smile. And yet on my journey in 1925 I saw his test field occupied by him with devices never seen before. When I asked, they answered that the fields are being "electrically fertilized".

Since I showed great interest, Mr. Wöllecke led me through his cultures. I saw carrots of 2 kg each, with the cabbage 1.40 m high, the beet without cabbage measured 66 cm long; also celery 1.12 m long, beets 56 cm long. The potatoes were 2.2 m tall, their number was 30-35 with an average tuber weight of 0.50-1 kg. Cabbage was 3.5 m in circumference.

In a meadow that was neither fertilized nor watered, but only treated with electro-terro devices, I saw grass of 1.80 m high, while the untreated one was almost completely dry. Various experts have described the tests as entirely successful. A simple device with self-generated electricity enables the plants to absorb the nutrients required for their growth to an increased extent.

In order to make this invention known to us, I am happy to provide more detailed (only letter) explanations to interested parties (against return postage).

Nevertheless, the overall impression that cannot be blurred is that that euphoria of the time turned out to be a mayfly a la
Wonder wheat from Charles T. Russell and Co. has turned out.
The amazing story of "wonder wheat"

Then the question would still have to be clarified, why the contemporary WTG jumped on the bandwagon of all kinds of windy theories, although it could have been clear in advance if soberly considered. "Whether something comes of it, or whether it all turns out to be a shot in your own oven ?!"

The answer to this can be found in the basic ideological attitude, such as in the Rutherford script of the millions who supposedly (wonderfully) did not have to die if they only followed the WTG rat catchers, switched off their own brains, and for this, follow robotically what the WTG wants to instill in them.
And just in that Rutherford "million" script you can already find the passage:

"When the Kingdom of the Messiah is established, the great Messiah will make arrangements for proper food.
Thus, when the restoration begins, a man of seventy years will gradually be restored to a state of physical health and mental balance. The Lord will teach him how to eat, what to eat, and how to learn other ways of life; and above all, he will teach him the truth, and how to think and how to focus his senses on sacred things. Through the gradual process of restoration, he will be raised up by the great mediator and restored to the days of his youth; he will live on earth forever and will never see death. "

And to allegedly support this theory, the WTG is then also all sorts of windy other theories!
